Bio:

Signum Regis was formed by bass player and songwriter Ronnie König in 2007, and the self-titled debut album was released 2008. The music is focused on melodic metal with various metal influences. You might hear some elements typical for NWOBHM, thrash, progressive, neoclassical, hard rock, symphonic or even jazz. Still the sound is rather old school than modern. Significant is also the shredding guitar of young Slovak guitarist – Filip Koluš. The position of lead vocals features the well-known Göran Edman [Yngwie Malmsteen, John Norum etc.] who fits to the music perfectly.

The new album “The Eyes Of Power” is a one of a kind conceptual metal album. The whole concept revolves around real historical events that defined the Roman – Persian relations during the late antiquity (224 – 630 AD) in the Middle East. With a clear aim to capture the atmosphere of that particular time period and to keep the language as authentic as possible,

Original written sources and scholar literature were carefully studied. On this album you can hear many oriental sounding riffs and chord progressions.

All instruments were recorded in Ronnie’s Vindex studio in Slovakia and vocals in Edman Studio inVärmdö, Sweden. Mastering took place in Vancouver, Canada by Greg Reely [Fear Factory, Machine Head, Coldplay]. The album sounds fresh and live, the drum tracks were not quantized and only a minimal amount of triggers were used for kick and snare drum. All this to create a sound that fits the concept and story the best way possible.

“The Eyes of Power” is a masterpiece of epic, melodic metal. Don’t miss out!

RONNIE JAMES DIO’s Public Memorial Service: First Photos, Video Footage – May 30, 2010
The first photos and fan-filmed video footage from Ronnie James Dio’s public memorial service — which was held this afternoon (Sunday, May 30) at the Hall Of Liberty at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, in Los Angeles — can be viewed below.

More than 1,200 fans attended the event, which featured performances by Geoff Tate (QUEENSRŸCHE), Glenn Hughes (BLACK SABBATH, DEEP PURPLE), Paul Shortino (QUIET RIOT, ROUGH CUTT), Joey Belladonna (ANTHRAX), John Payne (ASIA), Oni Logan (LYNCH MOB), Claude Schnell (DIO) and Scott Warren (HEAVEN & HELL, DIO), along with personal tributes from Ronnie’s family members, bandmates and business associates. According to the Associated Press, hundreds more gathered in the scorching heat outside the auditorium to watch monitors of the proceedings.

“He touched all of us with his music and his message and his magic,” said David “Rock” Feinstein, Dio’s cousin and ELF bandmate. “I know that Ronnie truly loved all of you. He had a great appreciation for your loyalty. I’m talking about all you out there, all the fans.”

According to the Associated Press, Dio’s son, Dan Padavona, cautioned the memorial crowd to be screened regularly by a doctor and take care of themselves, something he said his father did not do.

“I beg you not to make the same mistake my dad made,” said Padavona. “For dad, the show always had to go on. He ignored the warning signs for years, and all along the cancer was growing and mutating from something that was probably easily defeatable into a monster which even Dio couldn’t slay.”

“He had that magic,” remembered Willie Fyfe, Dio’s longtime personal assistant. “He always called it magic. Once he had a crowd in his hands, that’s where they stayed until it was time to go, then he’d give them back, and walk off and do his thing. Bless him. He’s still doing that now, and the guy is in a coffin.”

It has now been confirmed that two major concerts are being planned to celebrate the life of the late Ronnie James Dio. The gigs — dubbed Ronnie James Dio “Stand Up And Shout” Memorial Concerts — will take place in London and Los Angeles in the fall. There are also plans to hold annual events in the years to follow “so that Ronnie is never forgotten” and to raise money for cancer awareness and support, according to artist manager Adam Parsons.

Ronnie James Dio’s widow, Wendy Dio, recently asked fans to ignore a protest by members of the Westboro Baptist Church, a fringe Christian congregation from Kansas, at Dio’s public memorial service. The far right church announced its plans shortly after Dio’s death, calling the late metal vocalist a “Satan-worshiper” and claiming he was “residing in hell.”

As news of the group’s protest began to spread online, Wendy Dio posted a message saying, “Ronnie hates prejudice and violence. We need to turn the other cheek on these people that only know how to hate someone they didn’t know. We only know how to love someone we know!”

According to one person who attended today’s memorial, the WBC “protesters were cordoned off outside of Forest Lawn grounds proper and were small in number with an at least equal number of counter-protesters.” He added, “All seemed orderly despite the usual idiocy from the WBC folks.”

Westboro Baptist Church is led by “minister” Fred Phelps, who has previously claimed that terrorist attacks and natural disasters are God’s revenge for a society that tolerates homosexuality.

The church feels that they “have the duty to protest and picket at certain events, including funerals, to promote their religious message.”

Members of the church have staged demonstrations at funerals of fallen soldiers.

Dio, who fronted BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW and his own band, died on May 16 from stomach cancer at the age of 67.

Jared returning home from University Hospital to be with his family today. This is what he requested.

The doctors have given him only a few days to live. There is no additional treatment they can do for him. Michele Koston is in need of financial support to help pay for the home hospice care and funeral arrangements. The Kostons have 4 children, no health insurance or employment.

Weird shit has been going down here in the States. Besides buttoning up our horrible taxes in the colonies, we were greeted with yet even more grim news that morning: Peter Steele (nee Petrus T. Ratajczyk), former Playgirl Centerfold and frontman for the Brooklyn, NY punk/goth/metal band Type O Negative was found dead from heart failure in his apartment the night before, according to Blabbermouth.net.

Peter was the most unlikely of artists, at least in light of all the stereotypes we’ve created for what artists are supposed to be. He was gifted with a superhuman body, and he respected his gift by lifting weights, perhaps becoming the most physically impressive artist ever. He came from an immigrant family and the cultural backwater of deepest darkest Brooklyn. He filed his teeth into fangs. He read science textbooks to relax while on tour. He was completely committed to the color green. He drove the scariest muscle car you’ve ever seen. Before his music career made it impossible to continue, he insisted on working for the NYC Parks Department. Not for the money, but because the man knew he needed to work. He wrote the best menstruation song ever (“Wolf Moon”). He would speak the unspeakable, and he would do the unthinkable. He angered the entire country of Germany, and then made those who could think for themselves fall in love with him. He bared his asshole for the front cover of an album. He signed his recording contract with a mixture of his blood and semen, drawn from his body right in our tiny office. He scared people, but he always treated people with the utmost respect. He defied our expectations, and he changed our lives, for the better. We are thankful for the sacrifices he made to do so. –Blabbermouth.net
